Fangirls sans cleavage

10/04/06 update: Check out DragonCon fangirls sans cleavage here.

For the final installment in the Comic-con fangirl costume series, here’s a collection of no interest whatsoever: Fangirls who aren’t trying desperately to be sexy. Yes, it is possible to fight imaginary evil — or embody it — while keeping your belly button covered.
“It would be fun to kill you.” For more pix of this dynamite getup, go here and here.

Also in the giant weapons category… This costume is so good, you start thinking she really knows how to use that sword. Too bad she didn’t pose two feet over, in the sun.

Such a dreamy outfit! Imagine, a costume that wins even by regular fashion standards. I want to watch the Venture Brothers now.

Sure, cosplay is supposed to be about pretending you’re someone you’re not, but you gotta respect an outfit that so clearly reflects the wearer’s personality. This is someone who just belongs in black-and-white platform Docs and a parasol. It even comes close to passing the “wouldn’t be too embarrassing to be seen in on the street” test. (See above.)

Who is this character? Because I am already afraid of her. Afraid in a really good way.

I admit I don’t respond to this getup. I can’t imagine identifying with, or admiring, a video game character enough to want to be her. But this is a case of stellar execution — not to mention restraint.

By contrast,
consider this individual. In her mind, Princess Toadstool not only goes strapless — despite obvious evidence to the contrary [picture 4] — but she’s up for a little fraternal threeway fun!! [last picture] Stop sullying an innocent video game character, you ho!!!

P.S. No
, apparently there was not a single person at Comic-con who posed without their back to the sun.

P.P.S.:
As ever, most pix are from Comic Book Resources and Cosplay.com.

  1. [...] Fangirls Sans Cleavage is a cute look at G-rated cosplayers. [...]

  2. The girl in the second to last picture is dressed as Kuchiki Rukia from the manga Bleach.
