Cartoon Shoes and the Flaws in Copyright Legislation

Man, I am SO BUMMED. A couple weeks after I wrote about wedgie shoes printed with Archie comics, I found the UR SHOE, this designer’s obvious inspiration, in the form of a pair of wedgies from the 60s printed with some Spanish-language cartoon or other. I’ve been meaning to post a link but NOOOOO! The place that was selling the shoes, losthorizonvintage.com, has VANISHED FROM THE INTERNETS!!
This is why copyright is crap. If I’d saved the shoe pic to Flickr, thus violating copyright, we could all be enjoying it RIGHT NOW. Instead, just because a few checks bounced, the owner’s got it locked up on his/her hard drive FOREVER.
