This is why the Naruto fandom is like great fiction: It continually forces you to imagine the mindsets of inscrutable, contradictory people. Take these two comments from the video’s YouTube page:

In the same vein, TakotoHitwaka says: “This is the kinda crap that makes me ashamed too be a Naruto fan.” Like if it weren’t for the ripoff animation, s/he’d wouldn’t be ashamed to be a Naruto fan. Although, come to think of it, the shame is a good sign.
I love that “Fighting Dreamers” song, though. It’s great how they go “Ho-di-o-di-o-di-oh” like at a rodeo or something. Listening to it, I started imagining a mashup video that would include a sped-up shot of square dancers every time they sang that part. Then I realized I was remembering the folk dancers in that 2005(?) video by Gatas Parlament that was controversial because it talked about assassinating Bush.
**If you don’t know what I’m talking about, good for you! The point is that Cowboy Bebop is a hi-brow, hipster show that’s as unlike Naruto as you can imagine.

naruto is a stupid show that feels like a videogame, WHICH IT SUCKS BALLS!
Hipster? Do you even realize the trash that you’re watching? Shows like Naruto and Bleach have RUINED Anime.
Naruto is about as gimmicky as every other cookie-cutter anime these days. Go to Cons and the most you’ll see is the Narutos, Sasukes, Kakashis, and Sakuras infesting the goddamn place.
And if you ask them what anime they like, they instantly say “Naruto”, but when you ask them if they like or have heard of any other ones, they quickly go “no……”.
Never mind the fact that Naruto is pretty much the same mind-numbing drivel that DBZ revolved around, following the same formula -
1 – Talk about kicking each other’s asses.
2 – Train for about seventeen episodes, whilst talking about kicking each other’s asses.
3 – Meet your enemy who is hellbent on destroying some planet nobody cares about.
4 – Yell. A LOT. Crouch down like you’re constipated for emphasis.
5 – Fight for maybe two minutes.
6 – Next episode….
Naruto follows a similar chain. God help you if you’re watching the dub, prepare to hear “BELIEVE IT!” millions of times.
I’ll agree with you on the whole “Cowboy Bebop and Naruto aren’t similar”. That’s because Cowboy Bebop didn’t suck and completely bastardize what used to be an enjoyable hobby for me.
Apparently, there are far too many people too dumb to realize that they’re probably both referencing something else.
And Descent; anime isn’t ruined. That’s like saying “There Will Be Blood” is ruined because people watch Michael Bay movies.
i dont know why soooo many people hate naruto. but guess what? soooooooo many people LOVE naruto aswell. its one of the most popular animes and people say its kiddish? well,incase you don’t know naruto’s character is meat to have some sort of kiddishness in him and not one of those ”apparently cool” people who are strong from day one.he gets stronger by training. it didnt ruin anime. it made it more famous. thats why you see naruto on channels WORLDWIDE. bleach, on the other hand, at first its cool [i am a fan] but to be honest once the fillers come in it SUCKS. But these animes did NOT ruin anime.

Naruto has completely destroyed the anime community. about 2/3 of all forum posts, art scans, wallpapers, and thread topics are about naruto! People like narutodoesntsuck should watch at least 8 other decent anime (ninja scroll, black lagoon, basilisk, Higurashi no naku koro ni, air gear, ect.) before they go spouting off about how great Fucking naruto is. Then (if they are not totally fucking narutarded) they will realize how ridiculously terrible naruto/bleach is.

Yeah, i must agree with Descent and DescentisRight – Naruto (and the majority of series) do indeed suck. I am ashamed to admit to pople that I like anime. The usual responce is the infuriating “how many of episodes Bleach have you seen/ whats your fav character?”. Who cares? Have those people seen any of Miyazaki’s films? Or the famous Ghost in The Shell? Those masterpieces had feeeling to them, eg JIN ROH. That was something captivating, thrilling and really dramatic at the same time.
Or the grand “Grave of the fireflies/firelfy” – possibly one of the best anti-war films made. It made you think. Isn’t that the thing good art makes you do, think? In comparison, all the Narutos/Bleaches are just children’s mind-numbing and boring soap-opera entertainment. It gives you nothing – if it was intentionally bad ( AKA almost all of Schwarzenegger’s movies), it would have been “campy” and fun to look at. But no, it’s just mediocre. Bland characters, bland action, bland plots. Just mediocre juvenile nonsense. And yes, I AM an elitist.

I agree that Bleach is good, but the fans are extremely annoying, which just ruin the show for me. How about watching a good anime? Ever heard of Power Stone? Ghost in the Shell? Samurai Champloo? They are all fantastic, unlike Naruto, which is just an embarassment.
I like Naruto, but I also like blech, death note, +anima, Tenjou tenge, Densha-otoko, chibi vampire, ichigo 100 ‘/ and Fullmetal alchemist. and a few others that i don’t remember. 90 back to back fillers aren’t fillers, their a filler arc. I only class filles as those dumb episodes where they go around on some comedy mission, or help out the ramen man, etc. I refuse to watch anything with the words cowboy or bebop in it. unfortunately cowboy bepop has both. God help us all, but especially who came up with that name.at least it’s not as bad as Bobobobobobobobo, which has recently been show on cartoon network, about a guy called Bobobobobobbobobobobobobobobobobobobobobobobobob and so on. I also hate DBZ, but not the other types, their alrightish, i dont like one piece, but i dont hate it, same with shaman king. Naruto doesn’t have the bad name, pokemon does. Anyone see’s any character from any anime the presume it’s from pokemon and call you a baby. I don’t know what the heck you people are talking about. Naruto is the GREATEST anime and manga series ever created. If you think it’s for little kids, try watching it uncut. Not the edited crap on Disney XD. It’s not for kids, people. Naruto is the work of GOD. And yes, I’ve watched plenty other anime as well. None of them compare to how great Naruto is. It’s for males ages 13-17. And Bleach, it takes a close 2nd place to greatest anime. Death Note is awesome too. Naruto has cussing. It has blood. It nearly has nudity. Last I checked Naruto was the top manga in the world. Think it’s stupid? You’re stupid. You haters can die for all I care. It has an EXCELLENT story, some scenes have even made me cry. And Naruto doesn’t ALWAYS win the fight. Sasuke beat him, didn’t he? He never beat Kakashi at the beginning, did he? He couldn’t beat the Demon Brothers, could he? Exactly. You know how much Hidan cusses? Too much. It’s true the original series had too many fillers. Don’t like them? Read the book. Skip the episodes. Some fillers are actually GOOD too. Like the Star VIllage one. The one with Raiga. Naruto’s awesome. Period.
That clip is completely meaningless because two seconds of footage doesn’t make Naruto a Cowboy Bebop rip off lol. I guess you never thought of it like an homage did you? They could have had any sequence of punches thrown quite easily but they decided to go with that one because they loved the movie and wanted to pay a testiment. It’s similar to Naruto’s orange outfit. Kishimoto could have given him ANY colour and it wouldn’t matter because colours are colours. But he chose Orange (and blue bits) because he loved Dragon Ball and Goku.
As far as I’m concerned Naruto is the 3rd best Shonen action series I’ve seen (after Hunter X Hunter and One Piece). It might rely on some cliche’s but the characters are well developed (except Tenten who is a complete waste of course) and the fights have really good strategy in them. The story has gone on with the same rescue Sasuke business for too long but I had a lot of fun with the Akatsuki so to me Naruto and Naruto Shippuden will always be great.
Btw I’m 20 years old and I’m not ashamed to admit I love this series.
